You are so funny!!!
My guess is the dress is inspired by the Ukrainian flag, as a nod to Sasha's Ukrainian heritage. It has the blue and gold and even the skirt is a Babushka shawl!
Good comparison though!
I was looking at pictures of Sasha Cohen in her short program outfit. I kept thinking that the dress looked so familiar. Could it be that she was inspired by Kirsten's retired On The Trail dress? Makes me want that retired outfit even more. Sasha even had a little apron on her skating dress and aprons are very unual for skating outfits.

Thats cute!!!!! I didn't notice that!!!
She does look suspiciously like Kirsten though . If this is her (Sasha's) role model then Kirsten deserves a heaping helping of kudos. Sasha has evolved from a somewhat self-absorbed little gal into a truly wonderful young lady. Way to go Kirsten !!!! American Girls all the way! ~Bugs
(Now if we can only find a role model for the lovely little Russian gals meanie leader )
Oh I just love the comparison. I completely understand Sasha quest for greatness. It is so hard to be perfectionist and deal with the media pressure put on her.
I failed my qualifying exam (written over 4 days, four hours each day). It was devestating. I needed time to re-group, have a baby and come back mentally prepared. It doesn't matter how well I did on a daily basis at work. Those 4 days defined everything.
Thanks for the comparison between Kirsten and Sasha
Judi, you crack me up! You know what I think? I think you really, really need to get Kirsten's On the Trail dress! My general rule of thumb is if I start seeing the doll's outfit in what other (real)people are wearing, I know its time, LOL! I've seen some go for a decent price on eBay.
BTW, I love those Olympic ice skating costumes!
Hee hee . . . that's so cute! It's amazing how all the same colors are used in the outfits. Kirsten can even look like she's wearing skates, if you squint and stand on your head.

Colette is probably right since Sasha's short music is to a Russian Gypsy folk song called "Dark Eyes." I was totally rooting for Irina Slutskaya to win and I'm sad for her that she didn't skate well. I love Shizuka Arakawa though. Anyone live near Newington, CT? Maybe you can show her AGT4 or Jess dressed in a skating costume.

I have been ITCHING to order JESS and the skating outfit and make her Fumie Suguri (I like Arakawa too - but Fumie skated so well and didn't see the rewards in that). When she was questioned after she seems bewildered.
My CC is frozen in a 4 litre pail of ICE outside. To prevent me from shopping
I will be good
